The integration of microfluidics with optical tweezers makes it possible to sort and assemble particles as well as to exploit and control light-driven pumps, valves and mixers, all monitored by a computer-controlled interface. Further analysis is achieved by applying micro-spectroscopy techniques for Raman and fluorescence investigation in an all-optical micro-laboratory.
