A radial or azimuthal cylindrical vector beam can be generated as a linear superposition of orthogonally polarised Hermite–Gaussiam beams. A generalised cylindrical vector beam can be obtained as a superposition of a radial and an azimuthal vector beam. The arrows represent the local direction of the polarisation vector.
